“ONE-ACT KODAK MOMENT”
“Out here in the African Grasslands, squatting on Safari.
Doesn’t
it
all look so natural? Acting like ‘one of the guys’,
one of these
cute
little Maasai. But let’s get the roles straight here:
White post-colonial superiority (that would be my placement in
this
composition),
Objectification of Women (that would be me squatting into the camera)
for those white boys back home,
And the ‘We be lookin’stupid sittin’ with this
bimbo in a bathing
suit’ thing, you know, to help keep the status quo mentality
going on
out there in consumerland (that would be these admirable warriors
of
the Maasai tribe, totally out of character, posing here with me).
It’s all about money, honey. But somebody’s figured
it out and he is
looking right at you."
