HEALING SHIELDS

A series of luscious mixed-media paintings on textured hand-made paper inspired by Native American culture. Healing Shields explores contemporary issues in six large and ten small pieces that feature a sensitive handling of diverse media, incorporating beadwork, pictographs and three-dimensional drawing onto hand poured, pulp-painted paper works.

Each “shield” deals with a specific social issue and serves as a “visual prayer” for healing. Certain pieces are dedicated to specific victims - “Rape of Life Itself” to Congolese women.
